Hello & Welcome - I'm Kayla.

I am a birth doula with eleven years of experience working both privately in South West London and part-time on the Birth Centre at Chelsea & Westminster hospital. I was one of the first ever doulas employed by the NHS seven years ago and I believe the vast experience I have gained in all fields of maternity care (including my ten years as a maternity nurse) is of benefit to my private clients.

I believe that having a baby is a truly unique, wonderful and life changing experience which should be both cherished and a happy memory for life. To help you achieve this my aim is simple - caring, supporting and empowering you throughout the pregnancy and entire labour, providing both consistency and calmness along this wondrous journey.

Wishing you a beautiful and happy birth and remember; the moment a baby is born, the mother is also born.

Supporting you and your partner

I arrive when you need that little bit of extra support and disappear when you and your new family are smiling and relaxed. I will 'walk' beside you in a non-judgemental way, giving empowerment, strength and encouragement during both your pregnancy and your childbirth journey.

Just an email away!

I hope you enjoy visiting my website and you find it useful. If you have any questions, however small, please do get in touch. If you are considering using a birth doula or if you would simply like to know more about the doula's role and me and my services - please drop me an email: kayladoula@gmail.com

Birth and beyond

Each birth is a new experience and from each one I learn and take something forward with me even after nine years. Through practising as a birth doula, I feel it is important to extend my knowledge, therefore I attend many training courses and workshops - everything from VBAC to surviving post natal depression. I feel this broadens my approach to birth support and beyond.

Why have a Doula?

This article by Emma Shepard explains perfectly why so many mums-to-be find a Doula an invaluable addition at their birth; 'Why are women using Doula's during childbirth?'

I am here to support Dads too

Confident dads/birthing partners are important. Labouring women take courage and strength from them but this means the partner needs support as well.

Find out a bit about me

Being a doula is something I love and truly believe in. It's important for me to know that mothers feel comfortable so I can truly support them.

"After working with Kayla for a number of years on a Birth Centre, I could not recommend her more highly. As a midwife, we like to know that our clients are well supported in labour in order to allow this natural process to run more smoothly. Kayla is very skilled, witty, passionate and extremely professional; making labour and birth an even more wonderful event. I have witnessed firsthand the benefit of Kayla's calming presence at hundreds of births. You will definitely not regret choosing Kayla as your doula; you will feel like you have gained a new member to your family, in addition to your new bundle!"
